Kincaid Dennett
Facilitator & Strategist
Kincaid Dennett (they/them) is a facilitator and strategist who helps grassroots and community-led efforts cut through bureaucracy, build durable infrastructure, and turn ideas into action. Based in Lawrence, Kansas, they hold dual citizenship in the United States and Germany.Their approach is shaped by years of learning by doing: building mutual aid infrastructure, running a queer-led housing nonprofit, and navigating bureaucracies with little outside funding or institutional support. Because they had to figure things out from the inside, Kincaid specializes in helping others do the same—breaking down professional gatekeeping, making strategy and education accessible, and translating complex systems into usable tools.Their background spans nonprofit leadership, community defense, and transnational cultural work, including time spent working across Europe in hostels, cooking for an international crowd, and planning outings that brought people together across language and background. They are especially drawn to making humanities, critical theory, and anti-oppressive facilitation clear and intuitive for learners and movement spaces.Kincaid has co-founded multiple community initiatives, including the Lawrence Mutual Aid Network, Sanctuary Alliance, and the local chapter of Food Not Bombs. They most recently served as Executive Director of People’s Owned and Operated Collective Housing and currently sit as Secretary of the Board for the Kansas Association for Social Housing, continuing their commitment to accessible housing infrastructure and cooperative governance. From first-time budgets to board training to helping wild ideas take root, Kincaid brings clarity, care, and tools built to meet people where they are.

Approach
critical framework, liberatory praxis.
✶ No hierarchy, no jargon, no saviorism.
I don't rescue, manage, or mystify. I work alongside people, not above them.
✶ Structure is care.
A clear agenda, a well-written doc, or a patient tutorial can be radical. People deserve tools that respect their time and labor.
✶ Let the room breathe.
I try to move at the speed of understanding, not the speed of a clock. Trust is built through space, not control.
✶ Low barrier, not low effort.
I keep things intention, flexible, and customized, regardless of org size or wallet. That's how accessibility actually works.
✶ I don’t believe in neutrality.
I am politically aligned with movements for collective liberation, housing justice, queer and trans autonomy, and the dismantling of white supremacy. That shapes how I work, the way I facilitate, and what I prioritize.
✶ Learning is a mutual process.
Whether helping an org untangle its structure or guiding someone through a bureaucratic maze, I bring clarity, curiousity, and questions."Alone we know a little, together we know a lot."
